Meet the Dan Tian Wellness teamDr. Edith Ubuntu Chan, L.Ac. is a doctor of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and author of the Amazon #1 bestselling book SuperWellness.
As a practitioner, she's known for her extraordinary success helping athletes achieve optimal health and high performance. Dr. Edith is also a teacher of Meditation & Consciousness, a Level III practitioner of The Reconnection and a High Performance Coach. Dr. Edith's academic background includes a Doctoral Fellowship at Five Branches University (specializing in Endocrinology and Neuromuscular Medicine), a four-year graduate degree from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a bachelors in Applied Mathematics with magna cum laude from Harvard University. As a TCM practitioner, she worked and trained in a variety of hospital and clinical settings. Her manual therapy skills were founded upon a rigorous 4-year apprenticeship with Master Yu-Tai Fu, award winning Qigong master and traditional "bonesetter" from Beijing. Throughout the years, Dr. Edith was fortunate to study with other legendary Masters, leveraging her scientific background to demystify this ancient medicine for her modern patients. Vidya studied with Scottish osteopath Hugh Milne, in the lineage of Dr. Robert Fulford, a protégé of Dr. Sutherland. Her post-graduate work has included some years of assistant teaching with Hugh Milne in the Visionary Craniosacral Therapy Training in Los Angeles, Big Sur and San Francisco Bay. While being greatly impressed by the benefits and results of craniosacral and osteopathy in deep personal healing of adults, children and infants Vidya continues to nurture her own study and practice. Her work is informed by years of meditation, yoga (practice and teaching), study of herbs and other healing modalities. Kristen's approach to healing integrates the philosophies of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with her experience as a therapeutic bodyworker and knowledge of yoga asana. She holds a Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego. She participated in the Advanced Study Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, China, and has studied for 4 years with Dr. Edith Ubuntu Chan, DAOM, L.Ac., who is best known for her exceptional work as a holistic sports medicine practitioner. Kristen has over 1000 hours of training in various Eastern and Western bodywork modalities. Her formal training began at the Thai Massage School of Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai, Thailand, after which she continued to study both Shiatsu and Tui Na at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Most recently, she has been inspired by the work of Ortho-Bionomy, a gentle system of healing developed to support the body in its own process of self-recovery. Dr. Edith Nuñez Baza, DAOM, L.Ac. is a doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She received her doctorate and master’s degree from The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Edith has extensive experience in acupuncture, positional release, tuina, shiatsu and herbal therapies. With this broad knowledge and experience she creates personalized treatment sessions to guide each unique individual back to health. Each treatment heightens relaxation and awareness, decreases pain, increases mobility, and restores overall well-being. Her areas of expertise include rehabilitation of acute injury, chronic pain, stress management, women’s health, and facial acupuncture. She also loves working with patients on matters of health maintenance and preventative medicine. Inspired by the beauty and natural healing abilities of the human body and a desire to better understand her own health and injuries, Edith made the decision to follow her heart by practicing medicine.
